Two tons, two wins!
The season finally started with two wins out of three and two debut tons from players at different ends of their Scaynes Hill career. Paul Elphick, who must about 50 by now he's been around so long, scored his first ever league 100 for the 2nds in their win against Portslade. Paul shared a 120 run partnership with Jack Berrill whose contribution was 6! Stu Speller also took 5 wickets. The 3rds put on 232 in just under 40 overs against St. Andrews. Matt Pluckrose batted from start to finish to score 102 not out. In reply St. Andrews were bowled out for 90 with Russ, Dan and Rhys all taking their first senior wickets. Plucky even came on to bowl and captured his first and St. Andrews last wicket.
The 1st XI lost to Storrington where Nick Wright scored 60+

Nets as normal on Thursday and please try to be there.
If you haven't already done so please complete a standing order form for your membership (we will also need an extra £10 to cover last months payment). If you are not a member you will not be able to play. You get a new club shirt as part of your membership.

The season finally got started on Tuesday with the Under 11 and 15s in league action. The 11s went to Haywards Heath where, despite excellent bowling and fielding, they conceeded 281 runs. In reply our slow scoring rate meant we needed 41 in the last four overs which proved to be beyond our reach.
The Under 15 were at home to Newick. Joe Gallon starred with the bat scoring 43. Then Dan Foden 3-13, Dan Tingley 2 for 21 and skipper Mike Woodroffe 2 for 9 restricted Newick to 119 all out for us to win by 9 runs. This was a great win as we had a number of our under 13s playing.
Junior Training
Training is on Monday's for the over 11s and runs from 6.00 to 7.30. The sessions will be led by Nick Wright who will be assisted by Stefan, Tom, Mike and Dev. If you haven't already registered please bring your form with you and in return you will get a new shirt.
Under 11 training is on Saturday mornings from 10.30 to 12.00. These sessions will be led by Dev with Mike, Jack and Stu assisting. We will also be joined by Peter Woodroffe and Rhys Egleton.
Membership forms for the 2008 season are now available in the Junior Section.
The dates for the 2008 Cricket Festival are as follows:
U12 - w/c 28th July
U16 - w/c 4th August
U14 - w/c 11th August
U11/U13 w/c 18th August
Please note that the U14 and U16 weeks have been swapped around.
